I now have to manipulate the system in this convenience store.

If you just buy a drink they either put a little piece of tape on it, or ask if you need a bag.

I need the bag, I don’t need the hassle. Now I buy two things which triggers bag putting by default. Life just gets more and more expensive.

I worry that the coffee’s gonna melt through that flimsy bag though, junk is magma in a can.

The real problem that I worry about in these kinds of situations is that people see a foreign guy “involved”,  reinforcing some of the negative stereotypes about us that they may have.

I’m sure it’s not as bad as I fear, but I want to dispel stereotypes about Americans as I try to be nice, quiet, and not fat.

I’m not even sure that the shock and horror of this situation is fully transcribed into the 5th panel, but I assure you that it was seriously disturbing at the time. I can’t really imagine, I don’t care where you’re from, this being a normal and acceptable duty of a clothing shop employee.

You may assist me with: my blazer, an overcoat, perhaps the sussing out of a hat. For seriously though, keep away from my junk, it’s not right…
