This is an unfortunate true story…

I’ve returned from Sapporo today, so I’m getting back to work here. I’m backdating comics so that I can work through the weekend as well to catch up a little for the days I’ve missed.
Hokkaido was quite nice (and COLD), I had a lot of fun there and hopefully made some new friends which I’m also pleased with. Subsequently I’ve been editing photos all day to throw onto Flickr. I always end up taking too many pictures and hating all the Photoshop time after trips, oh wells, at least I got it all done. The picture above is a snowman building area where everyone got to make snowmen using bowls and a strange procedure so that all of the snowmen would come out a uniform size and shape…leave it to the Japanese.

The photo above is a cake that I ate in the maid cafe that the comics are currently taking place in. The food in that place is great, and the maids…also nice. I think it’s a different sort of place than the ones in Akihabara that you hear about, the food is all hand made, and the atmosphere is a lot more like a proper coffee shop or tea house. It’s a maid cafe still, but not over the top. I enjoy it.
Update on the update, we’re heading out to Sapporo in about an hour, thought I should say there won’t be comics running again until Wednesday (Tuesday on the stateside). Very unprofessional and disappointing I know. Terribly sorry for that, but I’ll try to pull double duty when we get back so I can catch up (I’m always saying that ><)

Saw this outside of a music shop here in Sendai, I guess the soul music sales were slow? At least this proves to me that Americans trying to profit after 9/11 with the American ‘pride’ merchandise aren’t the only capitalists in the world.
And on with the weblog, I haven’t said a whole lot here lately, but there’s not much really going on. Seems everyone’s coming down with the flu, including my English students which is not nice to my wallet. I’ve been filling the work void with quite a lot of video games including Little Big Planet and Soul Calibur 4 (if you’re on PSN I challenge you to face stabbing). I had planned some kind of comedic rambling to go in here somewhere but I forgot what I had scripted, everyone suffers. Working on some extra artwork for the site. Still drawing comics and things, and overall feeling pretty good. You can let me know in the comments section if I should not be feeling this way, and if Obama has fixed America yet. I heard we’re all getting a puppy as economic stimulus with our tax returns, dog food industry needed a bailout. Off the cuff comedy is…failure.
Today’s comic is gonna be a little late, I could outright say why, but I think it’s better if I tell the whole story in a convoluted, overly detailed, and meandering fashion.
Basically it goes like this: I spilled Jim Beam all over it and now it’s sopping wet and reeks of booze.
I was sitting here, having just finished inking today’s work, with a grin of smug self-satisfaction plastered across my face. I reached down to pick up the page and set it into the scanner and in doing so, took out my cup which was sitting next to my right elbow.
The cup fell in that weird ‘time warp slow motion’ where you can have a thousand thoughts in an instant 99% of mine were ‘ohhhh craaaaap’. So I managed to douse my computer, the comic, and various other little things sitting around with a mixture of Canada Dry and Jim Beam (which does NOT smell good). Short story shorter, it’s gonna be a few hours until the page drys and I can put it into the scanner without mucking things up (thank god for waterproof lightfast inks).
UPDATE:
More damage to computer than previously thought…looks like I’m gonna have to take this sucker apart again and try another fix. Apparently my drink got down into the front panel connections and it hosed my sound, wifi, bluetooth, headphone jack etc. how lovely. Add that to my last post and I guess I have a nice round number of problems.
UPDATE 2: Son of Update:
Comic is up as you may notice, I think I did a mighty fine job of salvaging that artwork! Now to fix this damn notebook -_-;
